The study analysed the electricity demand of the property taking into account all the electrical appliances, the client’s lifestyle, chosen heating system and an allowance for increased occupancy. The evaluation identified that a solar 6.24 kWp battery system would meet demand, and during periods of limited solar gain, a diesel generator was specified for back up. A wind turbine was preferable to the diesel generator but it was identified that the planning department was not sympathetic to an application for a turbine in the required location.
